You have just purchased your dream home it has a small vineyard on the property with which you will be able to make wine each and every year for your family and friends. You are super excited to see what you can do with the grapes. Only problem is, it's a bit neglected and hasn't been pruned properly for a few years and will need to be heavily pruned with saws, loppers, and pruning snips.

But you will know EXACTLY what to do because you will be attending our January Event. Club member Steve Lobherr has just such a property at 3101 Colson Canyon Road Santa Maria, CA. We will be meeting at noon on  Saturday January 18th (Sunday if its raining) and tackle the Beasts which are his 6 year old Syrah Vines.

After a short talk explaining why proper trellising and pruning are important, Fred and Jennifer will move through the rows instructing people where to remove large/multiple trunks and cordons. After the first pass, we will take a second pass pruning the spurs to a reasonable length and position. Bring a saw, loppers, and/or snips because you will need them.  This is a true "hands on" teaching activity that can benefit members who currently have vines or wish to in the future.

Once we have finished up, in traditional CCHVA Spirit, we will share wine and food together.
