CCHVA President's Message

July  2026

Cheers, CCHVA Friends!

Hello CCHVA Members!  Summer is in full swing, and most of the annual wine competition results are in. Congratulations to so many CCHVA members that took home LOTS of hardware this year, including a coveted California State Golden Bear "Best of Show" award, and multiple Gold, Silver, and Bronze medals!  Summer means one thing for home winemakers on the Central Coast—harvest season is just around the corner! Before the excitement of grape deliveries, crusher-destemmers, and fermentation fills our calendars, we have one of my favorite CCHVA traditions to enjoy together.

Be sure to mark your calendar for our Annual End-of-Summer Picnic on Saturday, August 22nd at Drum Canyon Park in Los Alamos. Whether you're a longtime member or joining us for the first time, this is the perfect opportunity to relax, reconnect with friends, and celebrate another incredible year of winemaking. We'll enjoy a fantastic picnic menu, the outstanding homemade wines that our members bring to share, music, yard games, and our annual CCHVA Wine Competition, where you'll have the chance to sample and celebrate the amazing talent within our club. We'll also share exciting announcements about the upcoming 2026 CCHVA and "Friends of CCHVA" Harvests, Fall educational events, and opportunities to get involved throughout the busiest—and most rewarding—time of the year.

One of the greatest strengths of CCHVA has always been the willingness of our members to share their knowledge, equipment, and enthusiasm with others. Whether you're harvesting your very first grapes or preparing another award-winning vintage, I encourage you to attend our events, introduce yourself to someone new, and continue learning from one another. That's what makes CCHVA more than just a winemaking club—it makes us a community.

I hope to see all of you on August 22nd as we celebrate another wonderful summer together. Until then, keep those fermenters clean, those bottles ready, and your wine glasses full!

Cheers,

Joe Clemmer
