CCHVA President's Message June 2026 Cheers, CCHVA Friends! Summer is just around the corner, and there’s a lot to celebrate in the CCHVA community! First, congratulations to our many CCHVA members who earned awards at both the California State Fair Home Wine Competition and the California Mid-State Fair Home Wine Competition. These competitions attract outstanding amateur winemakers from across the state, and it’s exciting to see so many of our members recognized for their hard work and dedication to the craft. Be sure to check out the rest of this newsletter for a complete list of CCHVA winners and award-winning wines. Seeing our members succeed at the local, regional, and state levels is a testament to the knowledge-sharing, mentorship, and passion that make CCHVA such a special organization. I'd also like to thank everyone who attended our Annual Spring Potluck at Providence Landing Clubhouse on May 30th. While the gathering was smaller than some of our recent events, it was filled with great conversation, delicious food, and plenty of outstanding homemade wines. Sometimes the smaller gatherings provide the best opportunity to connect with fellow members, exchange winemaking ideas, and enjoy the friendships that have developed through our shared hobby. This month, several CCHVA members will once again serve as judges at the Allan Hancock College Wine Competition, evaluating wines produced by students enrolled in viticulture and enology programs from colleges and universities across the country. It's always an honor to support the next generation of winemakers and witness the incredible talent emerging from these educational programs. Finally, mark your calendars now for one of our favorite events of the year: the CCHVA Summer Picnic, scheduled for Saturday, August 22nd at Drum Canyon Park in Los Alamos. More details will be announced soon, but you can expect great food, great wine, fun activities, and plenty of opportunities to spend time with fellow members and their families. Thank you for being part of CCHVA. Whether you're making your first batch of wine, preparing bottles for competition, or simply enjoying the company of fellow wine enthusiasts, you help make this club an amazing community. I look forward to seeing many of you at our upcoming events. Cheers, Joe Clemmer |
